Points of Interest lets you show the schools, transport, health services, shops and other amenities around a property directly on the map. Use Points of Interest to check what's near a listing, scope the amenities around a development site, or turn on just one type of place, such as hospitals, without crowding the map with everything else.
Plan access: Points of Interest is available on all plans. Reordering the Points of Interest categories is available on all paid plans (Standard, Advanced and Enterprise).
What Are Points of Interest?
Points of Interest are the amenities and services marked on the Landchecker map, grouped into categories. Each category has its own icon and colour, so you can tell a school from a hospital at a glance.
The Points of Interest categories include:
Health Care
Education
Travel and Transportation
Community and Government
Shopping
Food and Drink
Sports and Recreation
Lodging
Cultural and Historic
Each category opens into sub-categories, so you can show a specific type of place on its own. For example, Health Care opens into Emergency Or Urgent Care Facility, Hospital, Medical Service, Outpatient Care Facility and Specialised Medical Facility.
How Do I Open the Points of Interest Panel?
Search for an address or location using the search bar at the top of the map.
Click the Points of Interest icon (a location pin with a centre dot) in the left-hand toolbar.
The Points of Interest panel opens on the left-hand side of the map, with a search bar at the top and the list of categories underneath.
How Do I Show a Points of Interest Category on the Map?
Open the Points of Interest panel.
Tick the checkbox next to the category you want to see, such as Education or Shopping.
To show every category at once, click Select all at the top of the categories list.
The markers for that category appear on the map as soon as you tick it. To remove a category from the map, untick the same checkbox.
How Do I Show Only One Sub-Category?
If you only need one type of place, you can turn on a sub-category without showing the whole Points of Interest category.
In the Points of Interest panel, click the arrow to the left of a category's checkbox. The category expands to show its sub-categories.
Tick the checkbox next to the sub-category you want, such as Hospital.
Some sub-categories have their own arrow. Click it to see more specific types of place within that sub-category.
Only the sub-categories you've ticked appear on the map. Ticking the main category checkbox turns on every sub-category inside it.
How Do I Search for a Category or Place?
The search bar at the top of the Points of Interest panel finds categories, sub-categories and places by name, so you don't have to scroll through the list.
Click Search categories or places at the top of the Points of Interest panel.
Type what you're looking for, such as "train station" or "primary school".
Tick the result you want to show on the map.
What Do the Numbered Circles on the Map Mean?
When you zoom out, Points of Interest markers that are close together are grouped into clusters. A cluster is a circle with a number in the middle, and the number is how many Points of Interest sit in that area. The coloured ring around the cluster shows the mix of categories inside it, using the same colours as the category icons.
Clusters start to appear from around the 100 m map scale. Zoom in closer than that and the clusters break apart into individual markers.
To see the Points of Interest inside a cluster:
Click the cluster on the map.
The map zooms in on that area.
The cluster breaks apart into the individual Points of Interest markers it contains. If some markers are still very close together, they may form smaller clusters. Click those clusters to zoom in further.
You can also zoom in using the + button on the right-hand side of the map, or by scrolling.
How Do I Reorder the Points of Interest Categories?
On paid plans, you can drag the Points of Interest categories into the order that suits your work, so the categories you use most sit at the top of the list.
Open the Points of Interest panel.
Click and hold the category you want to move.
Drag the category up or down the list.
Release the category in its new position.
The category stays in its new position in the Points of Interest panel.
