Drawn a line or shape that isn't quite right? You don't need to delete it and start again. Every completed drawing on Landchecker stays editable. You can move points, add new ones and reshape as you go, with measurements updating as you drag.
This applies to drawings made with the Distance tool, Any Shape tool, and Rectangle tool on the right-hand Toolbar.
Select the drawing you want to edit
Click once on the line or shape on the map, or hover over it. Its points appear and it's ready to adjust.
Move an existing point
Hover over the line or shape to reveal its points.
Click and hold the point you want to move.
Drag it to its new position and release.
The length, area or perimeter recalculates as you drag, so you can watch the measurement while you position the point.
Add a new point using midpoints
Midpoints are the smaller markers that sit halfway between two existing points. They're how you add detail to a drawing without redrawing it.
Hover over the line, or over the outline of your shape.
A midpoint marker appears between each pair of points.
Click and drag the midpoint. It becomes a new vertex at that location, reshaping the line or outline as you drag.
You can do this as many times as you need — every new point you create gives you another midpoint on either side of it to work with.
Add a point along a line with a live measurement
Sometimes you need a point at a specific distance rather than just anywhere along the line — a setback, a fence position, or a division point in a frontage.
Hover over the drawn line and pick up the midpoint between the two points you're working between.
Drag it along the line.
As you drag, the measurement updates in real time from your reference vertex — the point you're measuring out from — so you can place the new point at an exact distance instead of estimating it.
Reshape a rectangle
A rectangle behaves like any other shape once it's drawn. Drag a corner point to resize it, or drag a midpoint on one of its sides to reshape that side.
Tips
Use snapping for boundary work. Turn on snapping (the magnet icon) before you drag a point and it will lock onto the nearest property boundary, so your shape follows the parcel line without you needing to click exactly on it. Snapping works with the Any Shape and Rectangle tools, but not the Circle tool.
Measurements are always live. You never need to redraw a shape to get an updated figure — adjust the points and the numbers follow.
Your changes save automatically. Edited drawings are saved to the cloud and will be there next time you open the property.
Who can use this
All paid plan members can draw and edit lines and shapes. Customisation options such as fill colour, stroke and opacity are available on Advanced and Enterprise plans.
