How to Search by Owner's Name for Properties in Victoria

Learn how to conduct a search to obtain a list of all titles (properties) associated to an individual or company's name.

Owner Name Search allows you to search for properties in Victoria by an individual's name or organisation (company) name. This search returns a list of all properties owned by the searched name in the Victorian Title Register.

State availability: This type of search is available on Landchecker for Victoria and New South Wales

Search types: Individual owners or organisation owners


Requirements

Before you can use Owner Name Search in Victoria, you must meet these requirements:

  1. Active paid plan - You must have an active Landchecker plan (not available for free users)

  2. Signed LANDATA® deed - You must complete and sign the Schedule 5 Deed for LANDATA® Conditions of Use

How to Search by Owner's Name

Step 1: Access Title Search page

  1. Click Document Searches in the navigation bar

  2. This opens up to the Title Search tab

  3. Choose VIC as your state, then click Next

Step 2: Select Search Type

  1. Click the Search by dropdown menu

  2. Select either:

    sanity-image

    • Individual Owners - to search by a person's name

    • Company Owners - to search by a company or organisation name

Step 3: Search for the Owner

  1. Enter the owner's name in the search field(s)

  2. Click Search

  3. A list of names matching your search criteria will appear

  4. Enter a Job Reference

  5. Select the specific name you're looking for from the results

Step 4: Review Search Fee

  1. After selecting a name, the Search button will become enabled

  2. The search fee will be displayed

  3. This fee will be automatically charged to your preferred payment method

  4. Click Search to proceed with the name search

Important: The name search itself incurs a fee before you see the property list. This is separate to the purchase cost for any documents, including a copy of the title.

Step 5: View Property Results

  1. A list of properties owned by the searched individual or organisation will appear

  2. This property list will also be sent to your Order Manager as a PDF for reference

Step 6: Purchase Documents (Optional)

If you want to purchase title documents or other property documents:

  1. Select the property you want documents for

  2. Click Search for that property

  3. Select the checkbox next to the documents you want to purchase

  4. Click Add selected items to shopping cart

  5. Click the shopping cart icon in the navigation bar

  6. Select View Cart to review your order, or Purchase for instant checkout

  7. If you selected View Cart, review your order and click Go To Checkout

  8. Review your payment and delivery method

  9. Click Buy to complete your purchase


Understanding Search Fees

Name search fee: You'll be charged a search fee to retrieve the list of properties owned by a specific individual or company. This fee is charged when you click Search after selecting a name from the results.

Document purchase fees: If you choose to purchase title documents or other property documents, those are separate charges in addition to the name search fee.

Payment method: All fees are charged to your preferred payment method saved in your account settings.


What You'll Receive

After the name search:

  • A list of all properties in Victoria owned by the searched individual or organisation

  • A PDF copy of the property list is also uploaded to your Order Manager


LANDATA® Deed Requirement

The Victorian Title Register is managed by LANDATA®. To access owner name searches, you must sign the Schedule 5 Deed for LANDATA® Conditions of Use. This is a one-time requirement and will be sent to you via Docusign after you submit a request

To complete the deed: Contact support@landchecker.com.au and we'll guide you through the signing process.


Troubleshooting

Can't access Owner Name Search?

  • Check that you've submitted your access request to this feature. This pops up when you select Search By Individual Owner or Company Owner from the Title Search page for VIC Searches.

  • Check that you've signed the LANDATA® deed via Docusign

  • Contact support@landchecker.com.au if you've completed both requirements but still can't access the feature

Search fee concerns? The name search fee is charged by LANDATA® for accessing the Victorian Title Register. This fee is required to retrieve the property ownership list.

No results found?

  • Try different name variations or spellings

  • Verify you've selected the correct search type (Individual vs Organisation)

  • The searched name may not own any properties in Victoria
