How to fix toolbar and in-app chat overlap

Adjust browser or map zoom to fix in-app chat covering toolbar icons.

Written by Airah Oquias

The Landchecker in-app chat is positioned in the lower right corner of your screen. If it's covering toolbar icons or other interface elements, adjusting your zoom settings can help reposition these elements.

Understanding the issue

The in-app chat may overlap with toolbar icons like the export button, drawing tools, or map controls, depending on your screen zoom settings. This can happen even if your browser is set to 100% zoom.

There are two types of zoom that can affect element positioning:

  • Browser zoom: Controls the overall size of the Landchecker interface in your web browser

  • Map zoom: Controls how close or far you're viewing the map itself

Adjust browser zoom level

Changing your browser zoom can reposition interface elements and resolve the overlap.

To adjust your browser zoom:

  1. Press Ctrl and - (minus) on Windows, or Cmd and - on Mac to zoom out

  2. Press Ctrl and + (plus) on Windows, or Cmd and + on Mac to zoom in

  3. Press Ctrl and 0 (zero) on Windows, or Cmd and 0 on Mac to reset to 100% zoom

Try zooming out slightly to see if this moves the in-app chat away from the toolbar icons. Even zooming to 90% or 80% can resolve the overlap while keeping text readable.

Adjust map zoom level

The map zoom level can also affect how interface elements are positioned on screen.

To adjust your map zoom:

  1. Use the + and - buttons in the map controls (usually located in the top right corner of the map)

  2. Or press Shift and - (minus) on your keyboard to zoom the map out

  3. Or press Shift and + (plus) on your keyboard to zoom the map in

The map zoom controls look like a magnifying glass icon with plus and minus symbols. Try adjusting these to see if the overlap resolves.

Which zoom setting should I adjust?

If you're not sure which zoom setting to change:

  1. Try adjusting the browser zoom first using Ctrl + - (Windows) or Cmd + - (Mac)

  2. If that doesn't work, adjust the map zoom using the + and - controls or Shift + - on your keyboard

  3. You can also adjust both settings together to find a comfortable viewing arrangement where nothing overlaps

Still experiencing overlap?

If adjusting zoom settings doesn't resolve the overlap, send us a screenshot showing the issue. Include information about:

  • Your browser type and version (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)

  • Your screen resolution

  • Your current browser zoom percentage (visible in your browser's settings or address bar)

This helps us investigate further and identify any display-specific issues affecting your setup.
