Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Landchecker account by requiring a verification code in addition to your password when you log in. This helps protect your account even if someone else knows your password.
Who this article is for
This guide is for all Landchecker users who want to secure their account with two-factor authentication.
What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
Two-factor authentication is a security feature that requires two forms of identification to access your account:
Something you know (your password)
Something you have (a verification code from your phone)
This means that even if someone discovers your password, they still can't access your account without the verification code from your authentication app.
Step-by-step guide to enabling Two-Factor Authentication
Follow these steps to set up 2FA on your Landchecker account:
Access your account settings: Click on your Profile in the top right corner of the navigation bar, then select My Account
Open Account Security: Click on the Account Security tab
Start the setup process: Click the Enable Two-Factor Authentication button
Set up your authentication app: A pop-up box will appear with instructions to get your verification code.
Follow these three steps:
Download the authenticator app: Install the Google Authenticator app on your phone (available for iOS and Android)
Scan the QR code: Open the Google Authenticator app and scan the QR code displayed on your screen
Enter your verification code: The app will generate a 6-digit verification code. Enter this code into the boxes provided on Landchecker
Verify your setup: Click Verify to confirm your two-factor authentication is working correctly
Save your backup code: You'll be given a backup code that you can use to access your account if you lose access to your authentication app. Save this code in a secure location
Complete the setup: Click Done to finish enabling two-factor authentication
Important: Keep your backup code safe
Your backup code is the only way to access your account if you lose your phone or can't access your authentication app. Store this code somewhere secure, like a password manager or a safe place offline.
Using Two-Factor Authentication after setup
Once you've enabled 2FA, you'll need to enter a verification code from your Google Authenticator app every time you log in to Landchecker. This code changes every 30 seconds, so you'll need to have your phone available when logging in.
