What is Transport Oriented Development?

Transport Oriented Development (TOD) is a land use planning approach by the NSW Government that encourages sustainable, mixed-use development around transport infrastructure. The goal is to create vibrant, walkable communities.

The TOD data integrates with existing planning layers, zoning information and public transport amenities in Landchecker, giving you a complete view to support your projects.

Who can access TOD data on Landchecker?

This feature is available for Standard, Advanced and Enterprise plan members. To upgrade your plan, visit our plans page.

How to view TOD areas in New South Wales

Follow these steps to display Transport Oriented Development areas on the map:

1. Search for a location

Enter a property address or local government area (LGA) in the address search bar at the top of the map.

2. Open Planning Layers

Click Planning Layers in the left-hand panel.

3. Enable Transport Oriented Development

Tick the checkbox beside Transport Oriented Development.

A blue overlay will appear on the map showing areas that are part of the TOD program.

4. View public transport amenities (optional)

For more comprehensive data, activate Public Transport amenities under Common Layers. This displays nearby train stations, bus stops and other transit links.
